Today we had a wonderful day with our tour guide “Or.” He took us to the Orchid and Butterfly Farm just outside the city in a more rural part of Chiang Mai. In a greenhouse type building there were thousands of butterflies and one even landing on my head. The hard part was capturing a good photo of one without scaring it away with my little point and shoot camera.
Next to the butterfly farm are the rows and rows of Orchid plants - all in full bloom. We walked up and down all the rows and couldn’t help taking pictures of everyone one. There were Orchids in colors I’ve never even seen before; red, yellow, purple, pink, orange, white. Most were not as exotic as the Fiji orchids we saw but beautiful nonetheless. Keeping up with the culture of Thailand, they were even selling lots of flower and butterfly souvenirs in the gift shop. Sorry mom. I didn’t get you anything.
