The Beaches of Australia

G'day Mates,

Its been a while since our last post as we've been really busy touring Japan. But, before we share our experiences here we wanted to give you one last glimpse of the beautiful Australia.

Our friend Lisa was kind enough to connect us with one of her close friends who lives in Sydney. We took the ferry boat to Manly Beach where they live and had an amazing day. There were tons of cafes, surf and icecream shops along the strand area; similar to Hermosa Beach so it felt kind of like home. We enjoyed watching all the surfers and avoided getting stung by the bluebottles (aka jellyfish). We even met up with them for dinner at a great spot right on the beach and got to hang out with her family; Kim, John, Stuart and Quinn. For dessert, we tried a traditional Aussie classic -- a sticky date cake. YUM!

The next day in Sydney we went to the other famous surfer beach called Bondi Beach. Just a couple weeks earlier there was a Great White Shark attack there but you wouldn't believe it by the amount of people in the water. We stuck our toes in...the big risk takers we are. A funny story from here was when I (Jillian) was enjoying a nice stroll down the beach. All of the sudden a soccer ball that was bicycle-kicked hit me right square in the face. Totally unexpected and I had a bruise on my cheek for a few days. Needless to say, Manly beach was much more beautiful and fun (without all the nudies).

That concludes the South Pacific part of our trip. Onto the Northern Hemisphere where the real adventure begins. But first here is a last look at the beautiful sights (hoping you all see them someday).

Jillian & Sean

The beaches looked inviting... and warm. Say, did you get a chance to see the inside of the Opera House? The outside views are spectacular!xoxo

I loved Bondi Beach - hadn't heard about the recent shark attack. Don't forget to eat at a Nando's (Chickenland) - it's soooooo good! I'm not a big commenter, but I'm definitely checking your blog regularly :)
