San Sebastian, Spain

Jillian and I keep trying to think of another city like this that we’ve been to but cannot. It’s a beautiful little (150,000 people) beach town along the northern coast of Spain just 40 minutes from the French border. The 2 highlights of the city are the amazing beach and the food.

We fortunately booked a place just 4 minutes walking to the beach, and spent most of our 2nd day in San Sebastian just lounging around enjoying it. As for the food, it’s considered one of the food capitols of Europe specializing in “pinxtos” (Basque version of tapas). We found a dinner spot we really liked so we went there two nights in a row. There was a big bar with tapas of all kinds on plates all the way down the bar. Basically, you get a plate and pick whatever pinxtos you want to try then they total it up and keep a tab for you. I’d compare it to a fancy buffet where all the food is handmade in a designer style.

From here we make the trek up north to Paris. For now, please enjoy the sites of beautiful San Sebastian…
